Tiny particles behave differently from everyday things. Try five experiments with your own hands and see for yourself.
Particles are fired one at a time at two narrow gaps (slits). Each one lands as a single dot, yet when many pile up, a striped pattern appears. If you check which slit each one went through, the stripes disappear.
A wall the particle should not be able to cross, because it does not have enough energy. A ball would always bounce back, but a particle’s wave seeps into the wall, and if the wall is thin, some of it remains on the other side. The particle can be found there.
Two polarizers set at right angles block all light. But put a third polarizer at a slant between them, and light gets through. You added another obstacle, yet more gets through.
Two photons born as a pair are measured by Alice and Bob, far apart. Their results match in a strange way. And the way they match cannot be explained by “the answers were decided when the photons were born”.
The more precisely a particle’s position is pinned down, the blurrier its momentum (which way and how hard it is moving) becomes, and the other way around. This is not because of clumsy measuring; it comes from the particle being a wave.
